Job description

Job Title: Microbiologist

Job Purpose:

Experienced position in Quality Control Microbiology Laboratory. Follows established standard operating procedures to conduct microbiological testing. Performs independent and collaborative tasks within a team environment. Microbiological testing performed in support of manufacturing to ensure product and process quality. Provides support in development of methods and creation of reports, protocols and SOPs. Demonstrates technical understanding of methodology and systems to support testing of all products within work group.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Candidate must demonstrate strong technical understanding of methodology and system of quality testing, scientific principles and practices.
  • Specific duties for the position to include microbiological testing, providing input for projects, training of other employees, knowledge of laboratory and manufacturing systems, troubleshooting, document creation and maintenance, environmental monitoring, and identification and other duties as required.
  • Provides daily microbiological testing support under little supervision.
  • Collaborate with senior and associate members of group on method development and validation projects.
  • Provide training of other employees on technical, cGMP, safety and administrative aspects of job.
  • Carry out identification of microbial isolates via traditional training and culturing techniques and ID systems. Carry out identification of microbial isolates via traditional training and culturing techniques and ID systems.
  • Drive input for continuous improvement activities through participation intra- and interdependently.
  • Lead consistency in productivity, teamwork and metrics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to all applicable procedures, cGMPs, company policies and any other regulatory requirements.

Education:

  • BS in Microbiology or related field.
  • 5+ years related experience
