The University of Oslo is Norway’s largest institution of research and education with 28 000 students and 7000 employees. Its broad range of academic disciplines and internationally esteemed research communities make UiO an important contributor to society.
The Department of Biosciences (IBV) has one Centre of Excellence (Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis) and four research sections (Physiology and Cell Biology, Genetics and Evolutionary Biology, Aquatic Biology and Toxicology and Biochemistry and molecular biology). Furthermore, the IBV is involved in three Strategic Research Initiatives (SRIs) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences: Centre for Computational Inference in Evolutionary Life Science (CELS), Centre for Integrative Microbial Evolution (CIME), and Centre for Integrative Neuroplasticity (CINPLA).

Job description/Project description:

The project focuses primarily on unraveling the function of the endocytic pathway toward antigen loading using biophysical techniques, molecular biological techniques, Biochemistry, imaging (e.g. live imaging) and molecular/imaging/biochemical screens in cell culture systems and cells from knock out/knock in mice. The project will focus on unraveling the pathway towards MHC II antigen loading, in particular for the molecules that associate with the transport to and from this compartment in immune cells, both in cell lines and in human dendritic cells (See e.g. Neefjes et al., 2011, Nature immunology and publications by the supervisors (Medline, in particular Oddmund Bakke and Jacques Neefjes).
