- Center for non-coding RNA in Technology and Health (RTH), http://rth.dk together with the Cowland Lab at Rigshospitalet has an open PhD position in RNA Bioinformatics in method development and applications in relation to leukaemia. We are looking for a person to join our team from March 2014, or soon as possible thereafter. The position is for three years.
- Background : In recent years, several analyses based on both in silico as well as sequencing results has indicated that non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) exists in huge numbers and are involved in subtle regulation. Results on conserved RNA structure in genomic sequence and tens of thousands of new transcripts that do not code for proteins accumulate and add to the potential of ncRNAs in further regulatory roles.
- Job description : In the project the aim is to (i) develop methods for predicting RNA structure using genomic and transcriptomic sequence data from mammals, (ii) develop methods for RNA-RNA interactions, including microRNA target prediction and (iii) to develop a pipeline, in part using methods from (i) and (ii) to analyse the impact of relocation of microRNA targets in acute myeloid leukaemia, and use it to in experimental follow up analysis on affected mRNAs and microRNAs.
Qualification requirements : The applicant should hold professional as well as personal skills and qualifications as stated below:
