"Summer Internships at IIT Gandhinagar" for Students & Faculty @ IIT Gandhinagar

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (hereafter IITGN) was founded in the year 2008. IIT Gandhinagar currently offers a 4-year B. Tech. programme in Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and an M. Tech. programme in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering and in Metallurgy Materials Science. In addition, the Institute offers the students the option to do a Minor in Computer Science or Management along with their B. Tech. degrees. It also offers Ph.D. progammes in several disciplines in Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, and Metallurgy & Materials Science), Sciences (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics)

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is excited to announce the fifth edition of the summer internship research program for 2016. The program is aimed at building strong ties with other institutions through research at IITGN. This year’s edition comprises two separate components:

Student Summer Research Internship Programme for students from other institutions

For whom (Eligibility) : Students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at a prominent institution in India.

Duration : At least 8 weeks within summer break of IITGN (Summer Break at IITGN: May 2 – July 8, 2016). Last date for receiving applications is March 5, 2016 .

Requirements:

  • Applicants are required to work with an IITGN faculty. Applicants are advised to review the list of participating faculty along with the description of projects being offered.
  • Applicants may apply for internship with only one participating IITGN faculty; based on their interests and prior experience they are free to apply for internship with faculty/projects outside of their declared degree specializations.
  • Applicants will be required to make a presentation to the institute and submit a report at the end of the tenure.

Provisions for student interns :

  • Weekly stipend of Rs. 1000/-
  • Free accommodation; students are required to pay for their own boarding.

Summer Research Opportunity for Faculty of other institutions

For whom : Faculty of prominent engineering institutions. IITGN may at its discretion also award this fellowship to teachers of other colleges/universities.

Objectives : To provide opportunities to faculty of other institutions to (i) participate in ongoing research projects at IITGN, (ii) undergoing mentorship by faculty of IITGN and, (iii) participate in developmental initiatives – [development of laboratories, new elective courses etc.]

Duration : At least 8 weeks within summer break (Summer Break at IITGN: May2 – July 8, 2016). Last date for receiving applications is March 5, 2016.

Eligibility : The applicant must currently be a full-time faculty member at an institution and have a teaching experience of at least 2 years.

Requirements :

  • Applicants are required to work with a member of IITGN faculty and maintain regular work time.
  • Applicants are required to submit a report to IITGN at the end of the tenure.

Provisions for visitors :

  • Monthly honorarium of Rs. 20,000/-
  • Single furnished accommodation; visitors are required to pay for their own food/meals.
  • Return rail travel (2nd AC) between Ahmedabad and place of work for joining IITGN and returning to parent institution.

Other Considerations :

  • Applicants can spend at most 3 summers at IITGN under this program.
  • Each member of the faculty of IITGN can work with at most 2 visitors in a given summer.
