About the University
Rajiv Gandhi University (formerly Arunachal University) is the premier institution for higher education in the state of Arunachal Pradesh which is located in the placid ambience of biocultural rich Eastern Himalayan region of Republic of India. Late Smt. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India laid the foundation stone of the university on 4th February 1984 at Rono Hills, where the present campus is located. Ever since its inception, the university has been trying to achieve excellence and fulfil the objectives as envisaged in the University Act. RGU was accorded status of Central University by the Act of Parliament in the year 2007 which comes under the direct funding of Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI. By virtue of prime location of the University in the exceptionally biocultural rich region of the globe with potential to excel, the UGC, Govt. of India has established the Centre with Potential for Excellence in Biodiversity in the year 2003 under the faculty of Life Sciences. In 31 years of its existence, the University has grown in both diversity and magnitude, proven itself as one of the leading Universities in India in terms of reliable higher educational institution, efficient knowledge delivery mechanism intensely focusing towards harmonising the critical issues related to social and natural environment thereby contributing towards the sustainable regional and national development. The Centre with Potential for Excellence in Biodiversity of Rajiv Gandhi University was established with the sponsorship of University Grant Commission, Govt. of India in the year 2003. The Centre was established with fundamental aims to promote research and documentation activities in the diverse areas of biodiversity and culture of one of the World's Top 12th Biological Hotspots comprising the Eastern Himalayan Region of India. It has flourished over the years and now the activity of the centre is not only confined to basic research on the biological and cultural diversity of the hidden landscapes but also expanding its activities in the scientific validation and value addition of biodiversity and associated traditional knowledge, climate change, sustainable development and livelihood, addressing the conservation concerns and issues of the local communities of Eastern Himalayan Region in regional and global perspectives
AIMS OF CONFERENCE
The ICBCS-2016 at RGU aims to: To bring together all stakeholders in a single plate form to share knowledge, academic debate and to highlight the biodiversity research and academic activities taking place around the globe among the Universities and Research institutes, NGOs and corporate bodies who are currently working towards addressing the concerns & issues relating to biodiversity research, climate change, sustainable development, conservation issues and key challenges and way forwards for implementing those shared global conservation vision and mandates at regional and country level.
CONFERENCE THEME & CALL FOR ABSTRACT/FULL PAPERS
The conference will be focusing on the following main theme and sub-theme under which the academicians, scientists, research students, and civil societies, government representatives working in the diverse field of Biodiversity, Climate Change and Sustainable Development may send their abstracts/papers for oral/poster presentation in the upcoming ICBCS-2016 at RGU, INDIA which is slated on 15th -18th October, 2016.
HOW TO SUBMIT ABSTRACT/PAPERS
The abstracts should not exceed 500 words in font Times New Roman with font size 12 typed in MS word file.The paper/abstract should bear article title, author, author affiliation, pin code/Zip code and mail ID of each author involved in the papers. Abstract should contain 4-6 key words. The abstract and registration form along with bank draft should be sent to the Organizing Secretary ICBCS-2016 in the e-mail ID secretariaticbcs2016@gmail.com
POSTER PRESENTATION
The paper accepted for Poster Presentation will come up with Poster size of 3 feet wide and 4 feet height. Poster presenter will be intimated in advance for their self preparation and printing.
BEST PAPER & POSTER AWARD
Best paper and poster award will be given to those come up with best paper/poster that contain lucid and integrated information based on research objectives.
REGISTRATION
- Hard copy of Registration Form may be duly filled up as instructed and may be submitted through courier and postal service to the contact address given in this leaflet.
- Scanned and soft copy of Registration form and Bank Draft (scanned copy) of Registration Fee may be sent to the mail ID of Organising Secretary ICBCS-2016.
