ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana was established in 21 August,1993 at Tiruchirapalli,Tamil Nadu by ICAR,New Delhi with an aim to increase the production and productivity of banana and plantains through mission mode basic and strategic research approaches.

Project : “Developing Post Harvest Mechanization Package for Banana Central Core”
Qualification :M.Sc. (Horticulture / Agriculture) with specialization in Post-Harvest Technology) / M.Sc. or M.Tech in Food Science & Technology / Food Nutrition or in the relevant field of specialization.
Skills : At least 1-2 years of working experience in the relevant field of specialization in reputed organization / institute and working knowledge in computer and handling statistical software.
Payscale : Rs.16,000.00 + HRA @20% per month
Position II
Job Title : Senior Research Fellow
No. of Posts : One
Project : “Development of diagnostic to viruses of banana under CRP on vaccines and diagnostics”
Qualification and Experience :
- First class in Ph.D. degree in Plant Pathology (Ag.) / Microbiology / Applied Microbiology / Biotechnology Or Master Degree in Microbiology (Ag.) / Applied Microbiology / Plant Pathology / Biotechnology / Integrated degrees like B.Tech. and M.Tech (5 years) Or
- Graduates with 3 years Bachelor’s degree who have acquired professional Master’s degree (3 years) like M.Sc. (Agri.) in Microbiology / Applied Microbiology / Plant Pathology) Or
- Candidates having Master’s degree in Basic Sciences (Microbiology / Applied Microbiology / Plant Pathology / Biotechnology) and have qualified NET with 2 years of research experience Or
- As regards, NET examination, any national level examination conducted by the Central Government Departments / agencies for admission to Ph.D. programme are considered as NET.
- The following are some of the NET examinations:
- CSIR– UGC National Eligibility Test
- MHRD – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering admission
- DBT– Biotechnology Eligibility Test & Test conducted in Bio-informatics by Bio-informatics National Consortium
- DAE – JEST & JBEEBILS, NBHM
- ICMR – JRF Entrance Examination
- ICAR – Test conducted by ICAR for admission to Ph.D. programme
- Do P-G PAT.
Payscale : Rs.25,000.00 + 20% HRA per month
