Vacancies at Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar, PhD Life Sciences candidates are eligible

 Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar recently established the SK Dash Centre of Excellence of Bio-Sciences and Engineering and Technology (SKBET) with a generous grant from Dr S K Dash Foundation, USA. The Institute is currently looking for a Chair Professor, Visiting Scientist on a deputation basis from reputed academic institutes and Post-Doctoral Fellow for initiating probiotics research at IIT Bhubaneswar.

1. Chair Professor (One): The main objective of the Chair-Professor, as a full time faculty of IIT Bhubaneswar, will be to promote research in probiotics at IIT Bhubaneswar and to develop R&D programme relevant to probiotics. The tenure of appointment of the Chair shall normally be three years with annual review.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION A minimum of 10 years teaching/research/industrial/professional experience, of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, NITs, IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such Indian or foreign institutions of comparable standard.

EXPERIENCE The candidate should have demonstrated leadership in probiotics research in terms of guidance of Masters and Ph.D. students, strong record of sponsored research, publications in reputed journals and referred conferences, patents, laboratory/course development and/or other recognized relevant professional activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY The candidate is required to establish a world class probiotics research at IIT Bhubaneswar and to work with other researchers in the Institute in mentoring students and postdoctoral associates in the centre.

SALARY Pay Band-4 with Academic Grade Pay of Rs.10,500/-. Medical Reimbursement up to Rs.1.00 lakh per annum for self and dependent family members.

2. Visiting scientist (One):

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION Ph.D. with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree in life sciences with a consistently very good academic record throughout and evidence of ability to pursue independent high quality research.

EXPERIENCE The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years post Ph. D. research experience on probiotics and/or Microbiology and should have experience of establishing independently a fully functional laboratory in the aforesaid research areas. The candidate should have demonstrated research leadership in terms of guidance of Masters and Ph.D. students as well as strong record of sponsored research and publications in reputed journals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY The candidate is required to establish a world class probiotics research at IIT Bhubaneswar and to work with other researchers in the Institute in mentoring students and postdoctoral associates.

SALARY Pay Band-4 with Academic Grade Pay of Rs.9,500/-. Medical Reimbursement up to Rs.1.00 lakh per annum for self and dependent family members.

3.Postdoctoral position: The institute is looking for a postdoctoral position on probiotics research at IIT Bhubaneswar. The position will be offered initially for a period of one year with possibility of renewal thereafter based on review of performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION Ph.D. with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree in life sciences with a consistently very good academic record throughout and evidence of ability to pursue independent high quality research.

EXPERIENCE The candidate must have published at least 2 research articles in a peer reviewed high quality journal(s) as a lead author on probiotics research in high impact peer reviewed journal(s).

JOB RESPONSIBILITY The candidate is required to work with other researchers in the Institute on probiotics research.

SALARY Salary will be commensurate with experience.
