- Introduction : The Peeper lab has a strong track record in function-based oncogenomic screens to ask clinically relevant questions, aiming to dissect cancer-driving signaling networks for drug target and biomarker discovery. We aim to increase the activity, and avoid resistance, of currently used targeted clinical compounds. We are also building experimental systems to develop combinatorial targeted and immunotherapeutic therapies, with a focus on (but not limited to) melanoma.
- Projects : We have several projects available. For example, we have developed a new in vivo negative selection genetic screening system for the discovery of therapeutic cancer targets. We will exploit this to uncover factors controlling (lack of) sensitivity to targeted and immunotherapy and use this information for the development of combined therapies. Furthermore, in collaboration with Ton Schumacher's laboratory at NKI we are developing both in vitro and mouse transplantation models harboring critical elements of the patients' immune system. Another
example relates to our recent discovery that the metabolic kinase PDK1 is a potential new therapeutic target, which we wish to explore further. We have established a large patient-derived xenograft (PDX) melanoma platform, which will be used to investigate the mechanism of action and clinical efficacy of newly identified targets
- Profile : We seek ambitious postdocs with a very good track record, preferably with experience in immunology or metabolism. Strong commitment, experience in animal studies and a desire to translate your findings to the clinic are recommended.
Your career opportunities and terms of employment : You will be employed for a period at least two years, with a possibility for extension. The gross salary per month is € 3.313,- to € 4.239,- according to the FWG-function group 55-60, and depends on previous experience.
