G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development (GBPIHED) was established in 1988-89, during the birth centenary year of Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant, as an autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Govt. of India, which has been identified as a focal agency to advance scientific knowledge, to evolve integrated management strategies, demonstrate their efficacy for conservation of natural resources, and to ensure environmentally sound development in the entire Indian Himalayan Region (IHR).
Applications are invited for purely project based positions on temporary basis. Candidates having appropriate qualifications in relevant subject consistently with good academic record and experience may apply as given below
- Project title : All India Coordinated DBT funded project entitled “Preventing extinction and improving conservation status of threatened plants through applications of biotechnological tools”
- Position : SRF/JRF
- No of Post : One
- Desired Profile : M. Sc. in Botany/Forestry/Biotechnology/Environmental Science with first Division from the recognized University, with minimum two years research experience for SRF.
- Preferred : Preference will be given to the candidates having experience in the relevant field.
- Salary : SRF : Rs. 18,000/- + 10% H.R.A (NET qualified) or Rs. 14,000/- + 10% H.R.A (Without NET) | JRF : Rs. 16,000 + 10% H.R.A. (NET qualified) or Rs. 12,000 + 10% H.R.A. (Without NET)
- Project title : Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) funded project entitled “Vulnerability assessment of mountain ecosystems due to climate change: Ecosystem structure and functioning”
- Position :JRF

- Desired Profile :M.Sc. in Botany/Forestry/Biotechnology/Environmental Science with first Division from the recognized University
- Preferred : Preference will be given to the candidates having experience in the relevant field.
- Salary : Rs. 16,000 + 10% H.R.A. (NET qualified) or Rs. 12,000 + 10% H.R.A. (Without NET)
- Project title : DST funded project entitled “Study of heavy metals transfer from contaminated soil to food chain and their risk to human health in Himachal Pradesh”
- Position : SRF/JRF
- No of Post : One
- Desired Profile :M.Sc. in Botany/Zoology/Life sciences/ Environmental Science with first Division from the recognized University, with minimum two years research experience for SRF.
- Preferred : Research work in bioremediation of soil, air and water pollution with molecular and biochemical approaches
- Salary : SRF : Rs. 18,000/- + 10% H.R.A (NET qualified) or Rs. 14,000/- + 10% H.R.A (Without NET) | JRF : Rs. 16,000 + 10% H.R.A. (NET qualified) or Rs. 12,000 + 10% H.R.A. (Without NET)
