PhD Position In Biomedicine at University of Kiel, Germany

  • Project : The impact of ADAM17 and IL-6 trans-signaling on the formation of malignant liver lesions
  • Project description : The inflammation and cancer lab (www.uni-kiel.de/biochemie/schmidt-arras) led by Dr. Dirk Schmidt-Arras is interested in aberrantly activated intercellular and intracellular signaling cues supporting tumour growth. We are seeking a highly-motivated scientist to investigate the impact of IL-6 trans-signaling and the metalloprotease ADAM17 on liver inflammation and liver tumour formation. Methods that will be used in this project include, but are not limited to, transgenic mice and murine models for liver tumour formation and liver metastasis, MRI, bioluminescence, live cell confocal microscopy and biochemical assays to monitor protease activities. 
  • Others : The position is available from 01. january 2015 on and fixed to 3 years initially. Salary is payed according to Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L. Contracted hours are currently at 25,155 hours/week (65%). 
  • Desired : Candidates should hold a Master's degree or diploma in Life Science (i.e. biology, Biochemistry, medicine or equivalent). Applicants should be highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have experience in molecular and cell biological techniques. Experience with animal models is highly welcome
