  • About the University : Bharathidasan University, domiciliated in Thiruchirapalli, "The Land of Carnatic Wars" and "The Educational Hub" of the state of Tamil Nadu, stands with the mission of nurturing education seasoned with valour. Having set several milestones, today the institution has crossed epitomes and has swept a long in its journey begun in 1982. Built with the virtues of the eternal and esteemed poet Bharathidasan, the university is working towards "Creating a brave ew world" and is endowed with 34 departments within the campus having versatile potentials. Apart from the 8 constituent, 19 autonomous and 15 affliated institutions, the University has 11 research centres and about 69 self-financing colleges in its canopy catering its needs
  • Scope and Aims of Workshop : Cell Culture Technology has provided an interesting perspective on its multi-applications in Life Science research. Molecular techniques have also become routine in several diagnostic tests and in majority of research publications too. Basics in genomics and proteomics are necessary for the upcoming generations to fight back against various novel diseases. This workshop is designed to enlighten their knowledge on techniques involved in cell culture based molecular biology and introduces the importance of Life Science research solely beneficial to the society. After attending the workshop, participants are expected to acquire the basic skills and knowledge of molecular techniques involved in cell culture and to be aware of the importance of safety and precautions needed when working in a research laboratory.

  • Isolation and characterization of Mouse Oocytes
  • Establishment of Leydig Cell culture
  • Primary Culture of Endometrial stromal cells
  • Quantitative Assays for Cell Viability
  • Flourescent Microscopy in Cell Culture
  • Conventional & Kit based Nucleic acid Extraction Procedures
  • Conventional PCR& electrophoresis
  • Real time PCR& Gene Expression Analysis
  • Protein Isolation, Purification and Estimation
  • Native and Denaturing 1-D electrophoresis
  • western blot Analysis

Eligible Participants : The Workshop is intended for Research scholars and Post Graduate students of Life Sciences who would like to gain knowledge on cell culture and molecular practices. The participants will be selected on the first come first serve basis with a maximum of 15 participants.

Registration : Participants are requested to send registration form along with recommendation letter from the Head of the Department. The selected participants will be intimated to pay Rs. 5000/- in favour of ACMT -2014, payable at Bharathidasan university, Tiruchirappalli.
