The ICGEB is an international, nonprofit research organization. Established as a special project of UNIDO, it became fully autonomous in 1994 and now counts over 60 Member States. The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology provides a scientific and educational environment of the highest standard and conducts innovative research in life sciences for the benefit of developing countries. It strengthens the research capability of its Members through training and funding programmes and advisory services and represents a comprehensive approach to promoting Biotechnology internationally.
TWO Postdoctoral Research Associate (RA) and ONE Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions are available in the DBT--ICGEB Centre for Advanced Bioenergy Research for the DBT--BBSRC sponsored project titled “RICEFUEL: Engineering Enzymes, bacteria and bioconversion processes for advanced biofuels from waste grain straw”.Details of the individual positions are provided below.
- Position : Postdoctoral Research Associate (RA)
- PI name: Dr. Syed Sham Yazdani / shams@ICGEB.res.in
- Area of research : Generation and analysis of Omics data
- Desired Profile : Suitable candidate must have completed PhD in Life Sciences or Engineering. The candidate must possess hands-on experience on genome, transcriptome and proteome data generation and analysis. Experience on working with cellulolytic Enzymes and microbes will be advantageous
- Position : Postdoctoral Research Associate (RA)

- Area of research : Measurement and analysis of metabolic flux distribution
- Desired Profile : Suitable candidate must have completed PhD in Life Sciences or Engineering. The candidate must possess hands-on experience of GC-MS or LC-MS for metabolite measurements. Experience in computational analysis of Metabolic Fluxes and metabolic engineering techniques are desirable.
- Position : Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

- Area of research : High throughput transcriptomics data analysis
- Desired Profile : Suitable candidate must have completed Masters in Computer Science/Physics/Mathematics or PG diploma in Bioinformatics with very sound programming skills shown in the form of completed project or paper. Programming Skill required: Java/perl/python or any other scripting language. Should have some familiarity with R statistical package
