GBPIHED-Himalayan Junior Research Fellowship (HJRF) Program

G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development (GBPIHED) was established in 1988-89, during the birth centenary year of Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant, as an autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Govt. of India, which has been identified as a focal agency to advance scientific knowledge, to evolve integrated management strategies, demonstrate their efficacy for conservation of natural resources, and to ensure environmentally sound development in the entire Indian Himalayan Region (IHR).

G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development (GBPIHED) invites applications from bright young researchers for Six (6) “Himalayan Junior Research Fellowships (HJRF)” to be awarded in 2013-14 in the different subject areas of Himalayan Environment and Development.

  • Position :JRF
  • Desired Profile : A candidate seeking selection as HJRF must possess Masters Degree in Physical, Biological, Social Sciences or equivalent degree in any relevant subject or degree in Engineering and Medicine from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks. Candidate enrolled for M.Sc. final examinations or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination are also eligible to apply in the above subject under the Result Awaited category.

Experience : Working experience in any of the following subject areas in the Indian Himalayan states.

  • Environmental Assessment and Management (EAM)
  • Biodiversity Conservation and Management (BCM)
  • Biotechnology Applications (BTA)

Age Limit : The candidate shall not be more than 28 years of age on last date of application for the award of Research Fellowship as on the date of application. Upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically handicapped applicants

  • Tenure: Two years and extendable for maximum one more year based on outstanding performance.
  • Mode of Selection : The screening of applications for calling candidates for interview will be done by a `Screening Committee’. Applicants who have already cleared/passed the National Entrance Test (NET) for JRFs, conducted by UGC/CSIR/ICAR and/or have experience in relevant field, will be given preference. The candidates selected by the Screening Committee will be called for interview. The `Selection Committee’ constituted by the Director, GBPIHED will interview the shortlisted candidates.
