The Government of Tamil Nadu established the Periyar University at Salem on 17th September 1997 as per the provisions of the Periyar University Act, 1997. The University covers the area comprising the districts of Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri. The University got the 12(B) and 2f status from the University Grants Commission and has been reaccredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade in 2015. The University is named after the Great Social Reformer E.V.Ramasamy affectionally called ‘Thanthai Periyar’.

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed the Post Graduate degree of this University or of any other University in Tamil Nadu to have obtained a minimum 55% of marks in Microbiology.
Stipend : Rs.5,000/- per month with Contingency of Rs.5,000/- per year for URF.

Project :“Development of novel mosquitocidal biopesticide from actinomycetes” funded by UGC, New Delhi, Government of India.
Essential Qualification : The minimum essential qualification would be M.Sc., Zoology/any life sciences subject with CSIR/NET (or) working experience in entomology is preferable.
Salary : Rs. 14,000/- month (Non-NET/GATE) or Rs. 16.000/- month (NET/GATE/GPAT) for a period of 3 years (purely temporary)
