Job Description:
Applications are invited to the above role to provide research support for the “GASCHEM” project.
This is a BBSRC and industry co-funded project to explore the molecular biology of Clostridia and their exploitation for the sustainable production of fuels and chemicals from waste C1 gases (CO and CO2) without reliance on fossil fuels as the carbon source. The GASCHEM group is already well-established and is part of the Synthetic Biology Research Centre (SBRC) led by Professor Nigel Minton. This centre numbers over 100 researchers and academic staff. Its research interests include generating novel chassis using synthetic biology approaches to create sustainable chemical feedstocks using aerobic and anaerobic bacterial fermentation.
Qualifications and Experience:
Candidates must hold A PhD (or be close to completion) or equivalent in microbial molecular biology.
The ideal candidate will be a microbial molecular biologist with knowledge of bacterial fermentation who can demonstrate a track record in scientific project management.
This full-time fixed-term post is available until 31stAugust 2018.
