Jawaharlal Nehru University, also known as JNU, is a public central university in New Delhi, India. In 2012, The National Assessment and Accreditation Council gave the university a grade of 3.9 out of 4, the highest grade awarded to any educational institution in the country.University is organised into ten schools, each of which has several centres, as well as four independent special centres. The objective of the founders was to make the university a premier institution of higher learning and to promote research and teaching leading to the increasing engagement of its students and teachers in higher level academic work and national and international policy making.

Jawaharlal Nehru University has been granted funds by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India to initiate an Inter-School programme in JNU to strengthen training and research called "DBT-Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-Interdisciplinary Life Science Programme for Advanced Research and education" with the broad project area entitled "From Molecules to Systems: Exploring biological space using chemical and synthetic biology" cutting across Physical, Chemical and Biological sciences.

Applications are invited for ONE (01) purely temporary post of Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF). This is a unique opportunity to work in the interface of Chemistry and Biology with a group of faculties having diverse range of experience and expertise. The project is upto March 2017, but the appointments shall be made initially for a period of one year, renewable every year depending on the performance:

Desired Profile : The minimum qualifications of the candidate should be Ph.D. in Life Sciences/molecular biology/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology and at least one publication in peer-reviewed reputed journal with experience in mammalian as well as fungal Cell Biology. Candidates without adequate research experience or experience in the areas mentioned need not apply. The candidate should have research experience in handling microbial as well as mammalian cells and a good theoretical as well as practical knowledge of molecular biology and Cell Biology techniques. Candidates with experience in techniques such as cloning, extraction of RNA and DNA, ChIP analysis, promoter analysis via primer walking or reporter assays would be preferred. In addition the candidate should have sound practical knowledge of western blotting and fluorescence microscopy imaging.

Fellowship : Rs. 36000+30% HRA p.m.
