Junior research fellow position at Indian Institute of Technology, Indore, MSc Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Life Sciences/ Environmental Sciences candidates eligible to apply

In keeping with India's vision to become a world leader in Science and Technology and to usher in a new revolution, resulting in an unprecedented economic growth, Government of India reassessed the need of technical manpower and decided to set up eight new IITs. Six of them started functioning back from the academic year 2008-09. These were established at Hyderabad, Gandhinagar, Rajasthan, Ropar, Patna and Bhubaneswar. IIT Indore and IIT Mandi started functioning from July 2009.

Indian Institute of Technology Indore located in Madhya Pradesh, known as IIT Indore or IITI, is an institute of national importance established by the Government of India in 2009. It is one of the eight new IITs, started by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (India), Government of India. The institution started functioning from 2009-10 in a temporary campus at Institute of Engineering and Technology of Devi Ahilyabai University under mentorship of IIT Bombay. Shri Arjun Singh, the then Union HRD minister, laid the foundation of the permanent campus, spread over an area of around 510-acre (2.1 km2), on 17th February 2009 at Simrol, a location on Khandwa Road about 25 km from the city of Indore.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates to appear for walk in interview to work as Junior Research Fellow in a DBT funded Research Project entitled "Carbon sequestration from thermal power plant by metal tolerant cyanobacterial species".

Description: Increase of carbon dioxide besides methane and oxides of nitrogen in the atmosphere is leading to climate change. It is the increased demand for energy which underlies the projected increase in CO2 emissions. Carbon sequestration, capturing and storing carbon emitted from the global energy system, could be a major tool for reducing atmospheric CO2 emissions.

Stipend: Rs. 25,000/- + HRA @ 20% per month.

Duration: Till the completion of project.

Eligibility: Academically good Master degree in Biotechnology/Environmental Sciences/Biochemistry/Microbiology/Life Sciences with minimum 60% marks/equivalent grade. Candidate with ICMR/CSIR/UGC-JRF or valid GATE Score will be given preference.

Interested candidates are requested to attend walk in interview on 5 th January, 2016. The candidates should bring Detailed Curriculum Vitae along with valid photographic identity card, Original and attested photocopies of all documents (10th class onwards) at the time of interview:

Time and date of walk-in interview: 10:00 hrs on January 5 th, 2016 (Tuesday).

The appointment is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. No TA & DA will be paid for attending the interview. Candidates should make their own arrangements for stay in Indore.
