Greetings from Organizing committee ICCAR 2016 !

We are pleased to invite you to the International Conference of Contemporary Antimicrobial Research 2016 (ICCAR 2016) from 14th to 17th November 2016.

Antibiotic resistance is a growing concern across the globe. The situation becomes more complicated due to lack of proper infection control programme and antibiotic policy in many parts of the world. Irrational use of second line antibiotics has led in to horizontal spread of the antibiotic resistant genes within broad host range of microorganisms and their persistence and vertical spread in subsequent generations.

The scenario becomes critical as majority of the patients practices self medication and sub optimal dosage administration of antibiotics (non compliance of full treatment course with dosage regimen). Most of the antibiotics are purchased over the counter (without the prescription of a clinician) from medical stores. These unsound exercises facilitate the maintenance and transmission of resistant genes from a pathogen to the normal gut flora and their subsequent release in the environment by healthy carriers. This growth environment favors development of resistant phenotype leaving few or no therapeutic alternatives.

The nightmare of multi-drug resistant bacteria will still haunt if no panacea is ever found. Efforts on seeking desirable natural products with bactericidal property and screening chemically modified derivatives of traditional antibiotics have lagged behind the emergence of new multi-drug resistant bacteria.

This conference will serve as an ideal platform for discussion on emerging mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance and in vivo, in vitro and in silico strategies using natural products of bactericidal activity, pre and pro biotics along with antibiotics to develop “intelligent antimicrobials” to combat the grave situation. Please join us in November 2016 in Assam University, Silchar, India.
