National Project on Organic Farming (NPOF) is a continuing central sector scheme since 10th Five Year Plan. Planning Commission approved the scheme as PILOT project for the remaining two and half years of 10th plan period with effect from 01.10.2004 with an outlay of Rs. 57.04 crore. The scheme is continuing in the 12th Plan.
NPOF is being implemented by National Centre of Organic Farming at Ghaziabad and its six Regional Centres at Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Panchkula, Imphal, Jabalpur and Nagpur. Besides working for realisation of targets under NPOF, NCOF and RCOFs are also performing specific roles in promotion of organic farming.

Post Description
Pay Scale: Rs. 9,300-34,800/- ( PB-2) plus Rs. 4,600/- (Grade Pay) (Total emoluments excluding T.A. and HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs. 34280/- p.m. approximately)
Age: Not exceeding 30 years as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 33 years for Other Backward Classes candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servant upto Five years as per instructions/orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. Essential Qualificaiton (s): M.Sc. in Microbiology from a recognized University or Institute
Or
M.Sc. in Botany with specialization in Plant Pathology or Microbiology or Mycology from a recognized University or Institute or
M.Sc. in Agriculture with specization in Soil Science or Agricultural Chemistry or Agronomy or Microbiology or Plant Pathology or Horticulture or Agriculture Extension from a recognized University or Institute.
Note-I The qualifications are relaxable at the Commission’s discretion in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Note-II The qualification regarding experience are relaxable at the Commission’s discretion in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste in respect of posts reserved for them, if at any stage of selection, the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts reserved for them.
Desirable Qualificaiton (s) (i) Ph. D. in any discipline mentioned in essential qualification
(ii) Two years experience in the field of research and development of biofertilisers and other aspects of organic farming.
Duty(ies): Testing of Biofertilisers, Organic Manures, Vermi-culture and different organic inputs in laboratory, isolation and authentication of different strains of effective microorganisms related with organic farming, Organisation of training programmes on organic farming, Organisation of field demonstration programmes on organic farming, Preparation of technical literature on organic farming.
Probation: Two years
Head Quarter Ghaziabad or any of its Regional Centres located at Banaglore, Bhubneshwer, Imphal, Jabalpur, Nagpur, Panchkula, and liable to serve anywhere in India.
