Situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu the National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE) is the flagship organization for research and training in epidemiology in India. NIE conducts research including interventional studies, disease modeling and health systems, helps to develop/modify statistical methodological issues and conducts epidemiological investigations and clinical trials of traditional remedies. NIE is also involved in significantly contributing to development of human resources for epidemiology in India by conducting Masters Programme in Public Health and Field Epidemiology Training Programme.

Project:“Improving health and nutritional status of vulnerable segment of population by implementing multi-component health and nutrition education intervention as a sustainable model of intervention” (Attached to Tirunelveli Medical College, at Govt. Primary Health Centre, Kallur, Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu)
Place of posting: MRHRU, Tirunelveli
Essential Qualification: 10th / Matric / High School / equivalent from a recognized board with One year Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) / Diploma in Nursing from a Government recognized Institute or One year Laboratory / Field/ Clinical Experience of working in a Govt. Laboratory /Govt. Recognized Institution. (12th Pass in Science subjects shall be treated as equivalent to 2 years experience)
Desirable Qualification: Training in Good Laboratory Practices, & exposure to MS Office will be an added advantage. Experience in blood collections in field & maintaining records.
Emoluments: Consolidated salary of Rs.13,490/- per month.
Age limit: No age limit
Nature of Duties: a. To assist the Scientists of MRHRU/NIE and Investigators of various participating institutions in conducting laboratory Investigations following Good Laboratory Practices. b. To maintain the equipments in the laboratories in excellent working condition & blood collections in field. c. To ensure and maintain cleanliness of the laboratories. d. To maintain log books and History Books of all equipments. e. Any other duties assigned by the Director, NIE, Scientists @ MRHRU, MRHRU Nodal Officers at NIE, and Tirunelveli Medical College, Tirunelveli. f. Must be able to read, write and speak Tamil fluently.
Duration: 6 months

9. No- Objection Certificate from the current employer (for Govt. Servants only).
10. All posts are Contractual for the duration offered. The appointment may be renewed after every specific period of time subject to satisfactory performance.
11. The incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointments under NIE/ICMR or continuation of his/her services in any other project.
12. TA/DA will not be paid by NIE for attending the written test/ interview. The Director/Selection Committee has the right to accept / reject any application without assigning any reason thereof and no recommendation in this matter will be entertained.
