Position : Postdoctoral Fellow

Description : The project focuses primarily on unraveling the function of the endocytic pathway toward antigen loading using biophysical techniques, molecular biological techniques, Biochemistry, imaging (e.g. live imaging) and molecular/imaging/biochemical screens in cell culture systems and cells from knock out/knock in mice. The project will focus on unraveling the pathway towards MHC II antigen loading, in particular for the molecules that associate with the transport to and from this compartment in immune cells, both in cell lines and in human dendritic cells (See e.g. Neefjes et al., 2011, Nature immunology and publications by the supervisors (Medline, in particular Oddmund Bakke and Jacques Neefjes). 

Desired Profile : 

  • The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
  • The candidates must have a PhD or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in molecular biology, Cell Biology, biophysics or Biochemistry.
  • We are seeking highly motivated and skilled researchers with broad and extensive experience within one or more of the following areas: advanced imaging, molecular  biology, cellular immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, and Protein chemistry. 
  • Prior experience with intracellular membrane/Protein traffic, advanced cellular imaging, membrane/organelle biogenesis will be considered a strong advantage.
  • The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines. 

Salary : Position code, 1352, pay grade: 57 – 65  (NOK 483 700 – 560 800 per year, depending on qualifications and seniority)
