About THSTI: Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. THSTI is developed as a part of the interdisciplinary NCR Biotech Science Cluster located at Faridabad.

Position 1 : Microbiome Innovation Award

Number of Position :

Essential Qualifications : PhD in the area of Molecular Microbiology/Protein Chemistry with preference given to those with interest and expertise in Enteric Microbiology/Infectious diseases. Those who have submitted thesis are also eligible to apply

Desirable Experience : The candidate will be involved in human microbiome research in CHME under the mentorship of its faculty.

Fellowship : Upto Rs. 75,000/- (Consolidated)

Age : 35 years

Position 2: Innovation Awardee (Devices)

Number of Positions: Three positions

Essential Qualification: Ph.D with proven track record of innovation in medical devices and implants/ biomaterials/ tissue engineering/ optics/ imaging platforms and medical image processing/ medical electronics & instrumentation/ mobile health technologies/ biomedical nanotechnology/ aerosol engineering/ microfluidics and photolithography/ machine learning/ bioprocess engineering/ frugal innovation in medical technology as evident from research publications, patents, grant funding, products developed and recognitions in field. OR M.Tech/ M.Eng. with two years’ experience in medical devices and implants/ biomaterials/ tissue engineering/ optics/ imaging platforms and medical image processing/ medical electronics & instrumentation/ mobile health technologies/ biomedical nanotechnology/ aerosol engineering/ machine learning/ microfluidics and photolithography/ bioprocess engineering/ frugal innovation in medical technology as evident from research publications, patents, grant funding, products developed and recognitions in field. 

Job Description: 

  • Working on independent projects in one or more of the areas listed under the guidance of assigned CBD Faculty Assisting in landscape mapping, market analysis and identification of unmet needs by rigorous primary and secondary research as well as direct clinical immersion.  Will be responsible for translating innovations to market by developing products, processes and technologies relevant to public health Brainstorming for novel solutions and initiating proofof-concept development.
  •  Trouble-shooting and problem solving any issues with design, performance and optimization as may arise in the product development process.
  •  Overall lab management including keeping track of inventory, consumables, safety and adherence to good lab practices.
  • Mentoring students and junior researchers in all relevant aspects of translational research and product development using the Bio-design process.
  • Assisting in grantwriting and communicating progress internally to senior management and externally to funding agencies.
  • Supporting all aspects of product translation including capture and management of Intellectual Property, Regulatory filings, pre-clinical and clinical trials and any other functions that may be required for successful product launch.
  • Assisting in establishing and expanding the innovation infrastructure and ecosystem at CBD 

Fellowship: 75,000/-

Innovation Essay: Please provide a 2-page (1000 words max) essay on an example of an original biomedical or med-tech related innovation that you have or are in the process of successfully translating into practice. Clearly describe your original idea or hypothesis, any clinical or scientific unmet need the idea was designed to fulfil, your proposed solution and your efforts in physically developing the solution up to an advanced state of translation. You may include pictures of prototypes or other appropriate figures (computer aided solid models, sketches, microscopy images, graphs, charts, screen-shots of software algorithm GUIs or outputs), or any other visual and verifiable proof of your concept development and translation (e.g. posters or links to videos uploaded to YouTube etc.). Please include any results from pre-clinical, clinical or field trials and what the current status of the innovation is (i.e. pending bench-test, field trial, startup formation, business plan development, fund raising, market launch etc). Clearly mention your role in the innovation process (e.g. originator of idea or inventor, lead developer, or part of a team with specific responsibilities for translation). You may also attach published papers or filed patent applications as supporting materials, although these may not be submitted as the primary proof of innovation instead of the essay. Please include only previously published, or publicly disclosed, non-confidential information. The Institute will not be responsible for maintaining confidentiality of any ideas or data disclosed with the application.
