The Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR), Varanasi is a constituent body of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). This is a major Institute devoted to research on vegetables and is situated in the greater periphery of the Holy city - Varanasi. Vegetable research was given impetus through establishment of AICRP on vegetable crops during 1971 at IARI, New Delhi with the responsibilities of coordinating and monitoring of vegetable research programmes of the country.
It is proposed to fill one (01) contractual position of Research Associate, two (02) contractual positions of Senior Research Fellow, two (02) contractual positions of Project Assistant and one (01) contractual position of Young Professional-I in different research projects at this Institute through interview etc.
Project 1 : Central Sector Scheme for PPV&FRA (DUS Testing of Vegetable Crops
- Position : RA

- Desired Profile : Ph.D in Vegetable Science/Horticulture/ Genetics and Plant Breeding/Botany. OR M.Sc. (Ag.) Horticulture/Vegetable Science/ Genetics & Plant Breeding/Botany with 04 years/ 05years Bachelors degree having 1st division or 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average with at least two years of research experience as evidenced from Fellowship/ Associateship/Training.
- Preferred : Knowledge of Computer; Working experience in DUS Project
- Emoluments : Rs. 38000/- p.m. + HRA for M.Sc. and Rs. 40000/- p.m. + HRA for Ph.D./ Doctoral Degree as per rules for Research Associate.
Project 2 : CRP on Hybrid Technology
- Position : SRF
- No of Post : 2
- Desired Profile :M.Sc. in Biotechnology/ Vegetable Science/Horticulture/Genetics/Plant Breeding/Plant Pathology/Seed Technology with 04 years/ 05years Bachelors degree having 1st division or 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average with atleast two years of research experience as evidenced from Fellowship/Associateship/ Training.
- Preferred : Candidates having post graduate degree in basic science with 3 year Bachelor’s degree and 02 years master’s degree should have NET qualification
- Emoluments : Rs.25000/- p.m. + HRA for 1st, 2nd year and Rs.28000/- for 3rd year for Senior Research Fellow.
Project 3 : Consortium Research Platform on Agrobiodiversity
- Position : Project Assistant
- No of Post : 2
- Desired Profile : Graduate in Agriculture/Horticulture/ Botany/ Life Sciences from recognised College/ University with knowledge of computers (MS word, Excel, Access, Power point, Internet, E-mail)
- Preferred : Knowledge of plant taxonomy
- Emoluments : Rs. 12500/- p.m. fixed for Project Assistant
Project 4 : Collaborative Project “Livelihood and Nutritional Improvement of Tribal Farm Women through Horticulture”
- Position : Young Professional- I
- No of Post : 1
- Desired Profile : Graduate in Agriculture
- Preferred : Knowledge of computer and data analysis/processing
- Emoluments : Rs. 15000/- p.m. fixed for Young Professionals-I.
