Position I

Scientist/Senior Scientist, Lactic Acid Bacteria Product Development, RTP
Do you want to work in an environment in which creativity and challenging the status quo is as valued as scientific excellence? If so, you could be our new colleague in Probiotic Development an ambitious team of scientists and researchers where you will challenge conventions by developing innovative and sustainable products that help our customers produce more food based in RTP. Working with our team of researchers, you’ll have responsibility to develop formulations of natural, non-GMO beneficial microorganisms for the use in animal production. You will accomplish this by designing probiotic formulations containing live microorganisms and/or secondary microbial metabolites for poultry production. Alongside an in-depth understanding of the scientific principles of microbial physiology, you also possess outstanding stakeholder management skills and strong commercial awareness. In your daily work, you’ll use all of these talents to pioneer research and transform it into business value for our customers. 

In this position you need to:

  • Have a Masters or Ph.D in chemical engineering, MicrobiologyBiochemistry, organic chemistry, food science, industrial Microbiology or microbial formulation
  • Have a minimum 5 years post-educational experience in the aforementioned disciplines with Master’s Degree
  • Specialize in microbial physiology and formulating organisms into both a shelf and application stable product with preferable experience scaling up from lab to production
  • Be a proven team player with outstanding communication and networking skills
  • Be familiar with fermentation, microbial growth characterization, formulation of biological products and knowledge of application technologies
  • Have a background in fermentation and formulation development, and knowledge in Lactic Acid Bacteria is highly preferred
  • Have the ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple projects while willing to participate in an innovate team
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time

Research Associate, Lactic Acid Bacteria Product Development, RTP

Scientist / Senior Scientist – Technical Service Bioenergy
We’re looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Technical Service team supporting 1st generation biofuels in North America. In this role you will partner with our customers and serve as their trusted advisor delivering Novozymes solutions to meet the challenges of their business. You will work together to explore new enzyme technologies and implement valuable service offerings , while collaborating with cross functional and international teams on projects and product trials. You’ll join forces to think about what’s next, and work to make it a reality today.

Location
This position will be based in the Midwestern United States convenient to our customers in the ethanol industry. The position can be based out of a home office, or at one of our Midwest Novozymes locations in Ames, IA or Blair, NE.

Qualifications:

  • BSc, MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, MicrobiologyBiochemistry or related discipline
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant industry experience
  • Solid science background, including process engineering, statistical analysis and fermentation
  • Experience working in the ethanol industry
  • Ability to travel approximately 50%
