For facilitating the development of Biotechnology in the State, Government of Gujarat has constituted Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM), under the aegis of Department of Science and Technology. The State intends to promote Biotechnology sector by building appropriate policy, promoting research, encouraging entrepreneurship, strengthening organizational infrastructure and forecasting business partnerships. Computational and system biology are the fastest-expanding sector in the world’s Biotechnology scenario, including India. Bio-IT is a need to modern Life Science research and has witnessed tremendous progress in the past few decades and post genomic era. Wide applications of Bio-IT tools in the modern Biotechnology areas of healthcare, Agriculture, industry, marine, forensic, environment research etc. has made the computational biology and system biology important, globally.

Job title & Description:
1) Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
- Requirement: One
- Fellowship: Rs. 12,000 + 20% HRA
- Minimum qualification: M.Sc. /M.Tech. /B.E. /B.Tech. in Biotechnology /Bioinformatics /Life Sciences /Microbiology /Biochemistry /Genetics from recognized University.
Preference would be given to the candidates having NET/GATE.
2) Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
- Requirement: One
- Fellowship: Rs. 14,000 + 20% HRA
- Minimum qualification: M.Sc. /M.Tech. /B.E. /B.Tech. in Biotechnology /Bioinformatics /Life Sciences /Microbiology /Biochemistry /Genetics from recognized University with minimum 2 years of research experience is essential in the field of molecular biology/computational biology/Bioinformatics/system biology.
Responsibilities:
- To assist in establishing state level network in computational biology and system biology.
- To survey and understand the current status of computational and system biology research and bio services in the state.
- To formulate reports and documents, organise meetings /conference /workshops /training.
- To assist in formulating the need specific projects and establishing linkages with national and international Biotechnology information.
- Participating in all activities of GSBTM, whenever needed and in any work deemed appropriate by the Co-ordinator and Mission Director.
