The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the School of Medicine of Temple University encompasses expertise in the fields of Microbiology and autoimmunity and is strategically planning to enhance its current strengths. The department is located across the street from Temple University Hospital, and the physical proximity facilitates collaboration with clinicians and physician-scientists.

Position: Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor

Job Profile:

  • Successful candidates are expected to develop a vigorous extramurally-funded, independent research program and to participate in teaching Microbiology to professional and graduate students.
  • We seek applicants who have basic/translational research programs in the area of host-pathogen interactions with an emphasis on autoimmune diseases.
  • Successful candidates will join an interactive faculty housed at a major medical school in Philadelphia with state-of-the-art core facilities, including confocal microscopy, flow Cytometry, BSL-2, -3 labs and excellent AAALAC-accredited animal facilities. Moreover, there is full access to the core facilities of Fox Chase Cancer Center, including DNA Sequencing, High Throughput Screening, Molecular Modeling and Gene Expression Analysis.

Qualifications required: 

  • Minimum qualifications include a PhD degree or professional degree(s) and postdoctoral experience in a relevant field (Life Sciences, Immunology, Medicine, Microbiology). Highly competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and start-up packages will be provided.
