Admission notification for 2016 session for PhD programmes and M.Sc.(Neuroscience) @ National Brain Research Institute

National Brain Research Centre (NBRC), Manesar, is the apex co-ordinating body for research in Neuroscience with the objective of undertaking basic research towards understanding brain structure and function in health and disease. The centre is located at Manesar, Haryana, 50 km from New Delhi.

National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) will select candidates through following channels for admissions to following programmes for the year 2016.

Ph.D.

  • Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS).
  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2015/GATE-2016) in Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Electrical Engineering / Electronics and Communications Engineering / Computer Science and Information Technology / Instrumentation Engineering. Candidates who qualified in GATE-2015 in these subjects are also eligible to apply.
  • Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) (2016).
  • CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR examination for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Biology, Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (the candidates should also fulfil the eligibility criteria of NBRC for Ph.D. programme). Also their fellowship should be valid to be activated upto 31st August, 2016 or later.

Note : Candidates will be short-listed for a two-tier interview based on their performance in the above qualifying examinations

Eligibility : 
Master's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology from a recognized Institute / University or a minimum of four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
Candidates with at least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) examination onwards will be considered. Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.

M.Sc. (Neuroscience)
Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS)

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology / Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply

Important Dates :

  • NBRC Application (Online) opens on : 30th September, 2015.
  • Last date of receipt of application (Online / Offline) at NBRC: 31st March 2016 (for applicants from all channels)
  • Last date of receipt of requests for hard copy of application form : 15th February, 2016 (for applicants through all channels). No request for hard copy of the application form will be entertained, if received after 15th February 2016 .

How to Apply :
The Candidates can apply for admission to Ph.D or M.Sc. (Neuroscience) programmes at National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) either Online or Offline.

Online
For Online application form click the 'Apply Online Tab' and select the channel.
Online applicants should pay the application fee through 'SB-Collect'.

Offline
Candidates who wish to apply by offline mode need to obtain application form from NBRC. In order to obtain the application form, send a self addressed A-4 size envelope affixed with 22/- postage stamps to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122051 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana). The last date for receipt of requests for hard copy of the application form is 15th February, 2016.
Offline applicants can submit the application fee by a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, National brain Research Centre payable at Gurgaon or Manesar. Send the Demand Draft and complete application form to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122051 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana). Please write your name and course applied for on the back of Demand Draft. JGEEBILS/JEST candidates should write their Reference Code/ Unique ID No. also on the back of Demand Draft. GATE/External Fellowship Channnel candidates should write their GATE Roll Number/Fellowship award letter Number, the year of examination and its validity period on the back of the Demand Draft.
