Position : PhD Studentship
Project Description : Research project on broadly protective vaccines against H3N2 influenza viruses of swine and humans. The project focuses on influenza viruses of the H3N2 subtype, which are widespread in swine as well as in humans. It aims to explore vaccination strategies that induce a broad protective immune response with the purpose to obtain protection against multiple variants of H3N2 influenza viruses of swine and humans.
Desired Profile : The candidate should have a strong interest in viral immunology, like to work with pigs and have a strong work ethic. Responsibilities of the PhD candidate include immunisation-challenge studies in pigs (vaccination, experimental infection, clinical monitoring, sampling pre- and post-mortem, quantification of viral replication) and detailed
investigations of the humoral and cell-mediated immune response. Foreign candidates are welcome if they are highly fluent in English.
