The National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology (NRCPB) was established in 1985 with a vision to impart the Biotechnology advantage to the much-needed thrust to Indian Agriculture. The Centre had adopted relatively softer option of tissue culture based research in its infancy in view of the build-uptime required for a strong self-sustaining infrastructure. Today almost a decade later, it stands poised to deliver impact-making results of research being pursued in upfront areas of plant Biotechnology.
Eligible candidates may appear in Walk-in-interview for the positions of Research Associate/Senior Research Fellow/ ICAR Young professional in ICAR funded projects as follows
Position 1: Research Associate
Project : Decoding the genomes of guar and black gram for the identification of important genes
No of Post : 3
Desired Profile : Ph.D. Degree in Bioinformatics/molecular biology/Biotechnology/ Genetics/allied sciences; or M.Sc/M.Tech in Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology/Life Sciences/ allied sciences with 1st division with 4 year/5 year bachelor’s degree having 1st division or 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average with at least two years of research experience as evidenced from Fellowship/ Associate ship.
Preferred : 2 years research experience in bioinformatic data analysis/molecular biology techniques,
and high throughput DNA/RNA sequencing, and transcriptome data analysis. Research paper with IF>1 will be desirable
Position 2 : SRF
Project : Decoding the genomes of guar and black gram for the identification of important genes
No of Post : 1
Desired Profile : M.Sc/M.Tech in molecular biology/Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Allied Sciences/Agricultural sciences/Bioinformatics with 1st division or 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average with 4 year/5 year of Bachelor’s degree. Candidate having post graduate degree in basic science with 3 year Bachelor’s degree should have NET qualification.
Preferred : 1-2 yr experience in basic molecular biology, genomics and Bioinformatics.
Position 3 : Research Associate
Project : Understanding cellular and genetic mechanisms and identifying molecular markers for seed viability in soybean
No of Post : 1
Desired Profile : Ph.D. Degree in Bioinformatics/molecular biology/Biotechnology/ Genetics/allied sciences; or M.Sc/M.Tech in Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology/Life Sciences/ allied sciences with 1st division with 4 year/5 year bachelor’s degree having 1st division or 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average with at least two years of research experience as evidenced from Fellowship/ Associate ship.

Project :“Modeling network of gene response to abiotic stress in rice"

Desired Profile : Ph.D. Degree in Bioinformatics/molecular biology/Biotechnology/ Genetics/allied sciences; or M.Sc/M.Tech in Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology/Life Sciences/ allied sciences with 1st division with 4 year/5 year bachelor’s degree having 1st division or 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average with at least two years of research experience as evidenced from Fellowship/ Associate ship.

How to Apply :
The post is purely temporary in nature and is co-terminus with the project with initial recruitment for one year/duration of the project (project 4 position is only operational till
March 2016). The interview will be held on 28th September, 2015 at 10 AM at NRCPB, LBS Building, Pusa Campus, and New Delhi-110012. The candidates must bring four copies of biodata, original certificates, attested photocopies of each of the certificates and an attested copy of recent passport size photograph. No TA/DA would be given for the appearance in interview. Only the candidates having essential qualifications would be entertained for the interviews
