Advertisement No. MoES/ICMAM-PD/Rectt. /Project Staff/44/2014 (III) Applications are invited for filling up following temporary project positions purely in project mode in the ICMAM Project Directorate, Chennai, an attached office of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) initially for a period of one year extendable further based on performance as per details given below. If number of applicants are large, there will be a selection test.
Project Scientist - II
Position 1
- Job Code : SWQM / PS-II / 1
- Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in Marine Biology/Marine Sciences / Microbiology /
- Environmental / Life Science with at least First class (not less than 60% marks).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience relating to coastal water quality monitoring (biological and microbiological variables) data processing, statistical analysis and reporting.
- Desirable: Ph.D., in Marine Biology / Marine Science.
- Nature of work: Assisting the senior scientists mainly to monitor coastal water quality with reference to biological and microbiological characteristics of water and sediment, data processing including reporting.
- Salary : Rs.46000 (consolidated)
Position 2 :
- Job Code : SWQM / PS-II / 2
- Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in Analytical / Marine Chemistry from a recognized
- University with at least First class (not less than 60% marks).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in coastal water quality monitoring particularly, analysis of chemical oceanographic parameters including nutrients, metals from water and sediment samples, data processing and reporting.
- Desirable: Ph.D., in Analytical / Marine chemistry
- Nature of work: Assisting the senior Scientists mainly to monitor coastal water quality with reference to chemical oceanographic parameters of water and sediment, data processing for quality assurance and publication.
- Salary : Rs.46000 (consolidated)
SRF
Position 3
- Job Code : SWQM / SRF /2
- Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in Microbiology with First class (not less than 60% marks)
- Experience: 2 years of experience in culture and isolation of marine bacterial strains.
- Nature of work: Assisting the senior scientists in isolation and culture of marine microbial strains collected, laboratory maintenance including application oriented research.
- Salary : Rs 36400/-
Technical Assistant
Position 4
- Job Code : SWQM / TA
- Essential Qualification: B.Sc., in Science with knowledge in general chemistry.
- Experience: 1 year experience in a laboratory.
- Nature of work: Assisting the senior scientist in routine analysis of samples under SWQM programme.
Position 5
- Job Title : ME / TA 1 Essential Qualification: Degree in B.Sc. in Chemistry/ Life
- Sciences.
- Experience: 1 year experience in a laboratory.
- Nature of work : Preparation of list of chemicals/ minor equipment required for procurement, Preparation of reagents/buffers, Assist in tissue processing, sectioning, staining of micro slides, Assist in collection of biological samples and dissection/autopsy.
