During 1985, to meet the additional requirement of most dependable source for adopting small family norms, HLL has started another Condom Plant at Kanagala village, Hukkeri Tahasil in Belgaum district, Karnataka.The Kanagala condom manufacturing plant commenced its operation in March 1987 with production capacity of 160 million pieces per year using Japanese technology and with sustained performance and growth it is expanded its condom manufacturing capacity from 160 to 370 million pieces per year.It underwent diversification in 1991 with steroidal tableting facility for birth control pills - Mala-D/N and the formulation and tableting of Saheli (Centchroman) the indigenous, non-steroidal once-a-week pill in 1992. The tableting of Emergency Contraceptive pills was added in 2003. Manufacturing facility for Centchroman Bulk Drug was added in 2004 with the capacity of 1000 Kg. per annum (Currently the capacity is 1500 Kg. p.a.). Commercial manufacturing of women healthcare products commenced in 2006.One more product facility i.e. Sanitary Napkin Manufacturing Facility, has been added to Kanagala Unit in April 2012 with the manufacturing capacity of 200 million pieces per year with the motto of supporting Govt. of India programme for promotion of Menstrual Hygiene among adolescent girls in rural areas. It is expanded its manufacturing capacity from 200 to 330 million pieces per year.

Job Description :
- All types of water sampling & analysis – Microbiological
- Environmental monitoring by settle plate, swab test, contact plate & personal monitoring
- Media Preparation & Growth Promotion Test
- MLT as per IP/USP/BP/EP
- Maintenance & preservation of various cultured present in the Microbiology Lab.
- Preparation of the required culture stocks from the master cultures
- Having experience in screening and isolation of various organisms & culture identification tests for both fungal & bacterial cultures
- Maintain the purity & productivity of all cultures
- Operation & maintenance & validations (Temp. mapping) of Bact. Incubators, Cooling Incubators, Refrigerator, Laminar Air Flow, Biological safety cabinet, Double Door autoclave / Vertical autoclave& Hot Air Oven. Air sampler & Digital Microscope / Microscope other Instruments, Digital colony counter usually present in the Microbiology Lab
- Preparation & Maintenance & providing training of GMP documents such as SOPs, OOS investigations, change control, deviations & etc.
- Responsible for calibrations & validations all required / related MicrobiologyInstruments
- Microbiologist qualification & preparation of document & maintenance of records
- Area qualification of Microbiology Lab
- Clean area validation; supporting role in facility qualification
- Having knowledge in FDA, ISO, WHO & other regulatory requirements
- Microbiological method validations for new formulations, method suitability verification as per IP/BP/USP, swab method validations, Disinfectant validations, UV light efficiency validation, 70% IPA validations & etc.
