The Government of Tamil Nadu established the Periyar University at Salem on 17th September 1997 as per the provisions of the Periyar University Act, 1997. The University covers the area comprising the districts of Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri. The University got the 12(B) and 2f status from the University Grants Commission and has been accredited by NAAC with B+ grade in 2007. The University is consistentlyorganizing various academic activities to bring researchers, scholars, activists under one umbrella to discuss, deliberate and carve out time-demanding solutions to social problems. A walk- in- interview will be held for the appointment of one Junior Research Fellow and one Field Assistant in the DBT (Govt. of India) sponsored collaborative Project entitled “Diversity (Cultivable and culture independent), ex-situ conservation and bio-prospecting of Marine actinobacteria for antibiotics, antituberculosis, anti-HIV and immunomodulatory substances"

- Desired Profile : M.Sc. in Microbiology/ Biotechnology / Life Sciences with two years of research experience in the relevant field. NET/GATE qualified candidates and candidates having experience in the field of Actinobacteria and its bioactive compounds as evidenced by publications will be given preference
- Stipend : Junior Research Fellow (JRF- with a salary of Rs. 25,000/-per month + 20% HRA for the first two years as JRF and with a salary of Rs. 28,000/- per month + 20% HRA for the third year for the same person)
