  • About the University : Named after the national poet Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiar, the Bharathiar University was established in February 1982 by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Located at the foothills of Maruthamalai in Coimbatore, an industrial and educational hub, it has been fulfilling its academic and social responsibilities in an exemplary manner with the motto "Educate to Elevate". Initially stated as the PG extension centre of the University of Madras, the University after its inception has grown to be one of the leading Universities in the country. It now has 35 departments under 14 schools and has been re-accredited by the NAAC with "A" grade
  • About the Department : The M.Sc programme in Bionformatics was introduced in India for the first time in the year 2001 and research programmes followed later. The Department of Bioinformatics, Bharathiar University established in 2007 under the School of Life Sciences. It offers

    M.Sc, M.Phil, PhD programmes in Bioinformatics and a PG diploma in Cheminformatics. The DBT-BIF facility of the department is open to use by researchers from outside the University as well. The expertise of the faculty covers areas like data and text mining, computational biology, system biology and biochematics, The alumni of our department are either doing research, some abroad or placed well

  • About the Conference : The programme "MOTIF" ia an annual event conducted by the Department. It is unique in the sense that the event managers are students themselves with guidance by the faculty. The event is meant to expose students to leadership roles so that they acquire desirable leadership qualities. It gives them an opportunity to learn crisis management and more important "Confidence" and orientation in life skills.
  • Call for Papers : The organizers invite scientific abstracts for oral and poster presentation on any of the themes noted. The abstracts can be sent to motifbhu@gmail.com The abstract should not exceed 300 words and should be typed in MS Words with Times New Roman font, 12 pt font size with 1.5 line spacing. Poster should be of size 120 cm height and 90 cm width.

    Selected abstracts will be published in the proceedings of the conference
