The institute had a humble beginning in 1954 in the form of a Contraceptive Testing Unit. Over the years, the Institute has made significant strides to develop newer contraceptives, both for the male and the female; generate information on the safety, efficacy and acceptability of available contraceptives in Indian population; and elucidate basic mechanisms underlying reproductive physiology.

- Project title : Model Rural Health Research Unit (mrhrus) in the State of Maharashtra under the Scheme of “Development of Infrastructure for Promotion of Health Research.
- Position : Scientist ‘C’ (Non-Medical)
- No of Post : One
- Fellowship : Rs. 55,000/- p.m.
- Desired Profile : First Class Master’s
degree in Microbiology / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Life Sciences subjects from a recognized university with 4 years R&D/teaching experience in the above subjects after 1st Class Master Degree Or Second Class M.Sc. + Ph.D. degree in Microbiology / Biochemistry / Biotechnology subjects from a recognized university with 4 years R&D/teaching experience in the relevant subject after M.Sc. + Ph.D.
- Preferred : Additional Post-doctoral research / teaching experience in relevant subjects in recognized Institute(s).Preference will be given to candidates having experience in Reproductive Biology.
- Age : Not exceeding 40 years.
- Duration : Intially for one year
