National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) is envisioned to be a unique institution of its kind in India. NISER will strive to be recognized as a Centre of Excellence in science education and research in four basic sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics) and in related areas. The aim of this special institute is to nurture world class scientists for the country who will take up challenging research and teaching assignments in universities, R & D laboratories and various industries.
Indian nationals are invited for Walk-In-Interview on 01.01.2015 at about 10.30 AM for one temporary post of Project Fellow-I to work on a plant biology project “Exploring the role of splice variant of CONSTANS, the key regulator of photoperiodic flowering time control in Arabidopsis” funded by DBT, in the School of Biological sciences, NISER.
- Position : Project Fellow I
- No. of Post : 1
- Fellowship : 12,000/- + HRA as per DBT rules
- Desired Profile : M.Sc. (minimum 55% marks) in Life Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Zoology/ Botany/ Biochemistry/ molecular biology/ Physiology or any other similar stream in Biosciences. Candidates with a good track record with over all CGPA
above 7.5 and in their final year of MSc, receiving their grades by the date of Interview, can also apply. It is desirable that the candidate has already got some hand-on training in handling, molecular biology and Biochemistry problems.
- Job Description : The work involves combination of molecular genetics cloning, qRT PCR, Biochemistry and microscopy to understand the fundamental importance of the splice variant of CONSTANS in controlling the photoperiodicflowering. The work involves understanding the Diurnal and Circadian oscillation of transcripts in different light regimes in one hour resolution in 24 and 48 hrs light dark cycle, therefore the selected candidates are expected to meet the demand of this circadian research and expected to be highly motivated.
- Duration : The above position is initially for a period of one year or end of this project whichever is earlier, not leading to any PhD degree in NISER and likely to be extended based on satisfactory performance.
