The Institute was established in 1935 as the first non official centre in to carry out basic biomedical research and was taken over by CSIR in 1956. CSIR-IICB today, by its mandate , is engaged in research on diseases of national importance and certain biological problems of global interest.

- Qualification required : Ph.D in Life Science.
- Desirable Experience : Experience in molecular biology, gene expression, cloning, gene knock down, Cell Biology, animal experimentation etc., with record of publication.
- Age Limit : 35 Years.
- Stipend: Rs.22,000 + HRA.
