About Indian Patent Agent Examination :
Indian Patent Agent examination is conducted by Indian Patent Office every year and requires thorough knowledge of Indian patent law, patent drafting skills and interpretation abilities.
The eligibility criteria to appear in the Indian Patent Agent Exam are:
- Candidate shall be a citizen of India;
- Completed the age of 21 years; and
- Has obtained a degree in Science, Engineering or Technology, from any University established under the law for the time being in force in the territory of India or possesses such other equivalent qualifications as the Central Government may specify.
Exam Pattern :
- Paper I - It consists of 40 objective type questions of one mark each and descriptive type questions of 60 marks based on Indian Patent Act and Rules.
- Paper II – It consists of set of two questions (different sets for science and engineering) on drafting of 30 marks each and rest will be descriptive/interpretative type questions of 40 marks.
- Viva-voce - Based on domain knowledge. Weightage of 50marks is given to viva.
- Passing Criteria : 50% marks in each paper and an aggregate of above 60%
About the training course :
The course will be covering 3 modules:
- Module 1 : Interpretation of Indian Patent Act 1970 and Patent Rules 2003
- (Each and every section/rule and explanation with illustrations, Flow charts, case-studies and illustrative examples)
- Module 2 : Important Conventions, Patent specification and claim drafting, Viva Questions and Tips
- Module 3 : Solutions to previous patent agent examination
Modes of learning :
- Classroom Teaching :
- Duration: Weekends only- 40 hours + online self-paced till patent agent exam
- Course Inclusions : Study material (which contains all 3 modules), assignments, revision classes before exam, 2 mock tests and online access to content, certificate for completion of indian patent law
- Centers : New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad
- Alternative option : Live lectures available online/ recorded lectures will also be available for remote cities or centers with less than 10 students.

- Duration: Self-paced course till patent agent exam
- Course Inclusions: Only presentations, study material, assignments, certificate for completion of indian patent law
- Optional : Mock tests can be added for additional fee (discounted price)
3. Postal coaching:

4. Crash Course :
- Duration : 5 days rigorous classes + 2 revision classes before exam
- Course Inclusions : 2 mock tests, study material, 2 revision classes before exam, certificate for completion of indian patent law, online access to resources
5. Modules only- One can opt for getting trained in single module or ordering single module as well
6. Optional packages : One can opt for mock tests, revision classes, assignments or combination of these or add these to any of above packages at discounted prices.
