Advertisement for a Research Assistant Position at IISER, Kolkata

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH Kolkata (IISERKolkata) was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. IISERKolkata is designed to reach the prestigious position in the global setting that IISc, IIMs and IITs presently enjoy.  IISERKolkata is an autonomous institution awarding its own degrees. The central theme of the IISERKolkata is to integrate education with research so that undergraduate teaching as well as doctoral and postdoctoral research work could be carried out in symbiosis.

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the post of a Research Assistant for a DBT sponsored project in the Department of Biological sciences, IISERKolkata. The candidate will work in the laboratory of Dr. Rupak Datta and is expected to perform routine experiments in the area of Microbiology, molecular biology and Biochemistry e.g. parasite culturing, cloning, enzyme assays etc. The position is initially for a period of one year and may be extended on a yearly basis for the duration of the project based on satisfactory performance.

• Position : Research Assistant

• Desired Profile : B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry OR Biotechnology OR Microbiology from any recognized University with minimum 70% marks in the last appeared exam with at least some experience in working in a research laboratory.
• Preferred : Adequate knowledge of molecular biology, cell culture and biochemical techniques.
• Salary : The candidate will receive a consolidated salary of Rs. 8000 per month.
