The University of Calcutta was established by an Act of the Legislative Council (Act No II of 1857) of the then British India. A supplementary Act empowering the University to confer some additional degrees was passed in 1860.The Centre as well its M.Sc Program in Biotechnology gradually received worldwide recognition and accolade and with that came an encouraging flow of moral and financial support both from abroad and the Government of West Bengal
Interested eligible candidates are requested to appear before a selection committee for the post of One Extended SRF in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Calcutta, project entitled “Inventorization and database creation on microbial diversity along Indian coast”sanctioned by Ministry of Environment and Forest (NCSCM).

- Duration of the project : Six months (May be extendedupto one year).
- Qualification : M.Sc in any branch of Life Science with exposure in Microbiology. The candidates must have submitted the Ph.D thesis.
- Necessary Conditions : The candidate must have a Frist class M.Sc degree.
- Fellowship : Rs. 25,000/-
