Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan (VPKAS), Almora, Uttarakhand, India, is a premier institute of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, engaged in hill agricultural research for North-Western Himalayan region of India. It is a multi-crop and multi-disciplinary institute. It has so far released 120 varieties of 25 crops. Some of these varieties have been released by Central Varietal Release Committee (CVRC) for other parts of India, apart from the mandate area. It has to its credit the first hybrid maize variety for Himalayan region, viz., VL Makka 54, released in 1962. The institute has maintained its tradition of hard work and excellence. The recognition came around when the institute bagged the coveted 'Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award' in 2001 and again in 2008.
Eligible candidates are invited for Walk-in-Interview on 15.09.2014 at 10:00 AM at VPKAS(ICAR), Almora-263601 (Uttarakhand) for the purely temporary and time bound positions of Research Associate and Senior Research Fellow on contractual basis under the following projects. The qualifications and other details are as under :
- Project detail : DBT funded project “Development of micronutrient enriched maize through molecular breeding- Phase-II”
- Position : Research Associate
- No of Post : One
- Age : The upper age limit is 40 years for men and 45 years for women on the date of interview
- Desired Profile : Ph.D. in Agricultural Biotechnology/Plant molecular biology/ Plant Biotechnology/Agril. Biochemistry/Plant Breeding and Genetics Or M. Tech(Plant Biotechnology/ Agril. Biotechnology) having 3 years research experience.
- Preferred : Experience and knowledge of molecular biology techniques used in QTL mapping, MAS, Biochemical analysis
- Stipend : Rs. 22,000/- + HRA per month.
- Project detail : AMAAS Project entitled “Bio-prospecting of Microbial products that effects cold alleviation and growth
- Position : SRF
- No of Post : Two
- Age : The upper age limit is 35 years for men and 40 years for women on the date of interview
- Desired Profile :M.Sc. in Agricultural Microbiology/Microbiology/M.Sc. Biotechnology
- Preferred : Hands on experience in the area of microbiological research (isolation, characterization and preservation of microbial culture) experience of molecular techniques,Bioinformatics and handling of equipments like PCR, Spectrophotometer etc., Experience in the soil and plant nutrient analysis. Good working knowledge of computer.
- Stipend : Rs. 16,000/- + HRA per month.

- The Interested and eligible candidate fulfilling the above qualifications are invited to appear for walk in interview alongwith the prescribed format of application on 15.09.2014 (Monday) at 10:00 (AM) at VPKAS(ICAR), Almora – 263601 alongwith the application, Bio-Data affixing a self attested recent passport size photograph and enclosing self attested copies of certificates in support of age (Class 10th Marksheet/Certificate), qualifications, experience.
- No-objection certificate from the employer/University in case he/she is in employment elsewhere/studying.
- The candidates are necessary required to produce all original certificate which will be returned to them.
- The position will be initially for one year/co-terminus with the project.
- The place of work will be VPKAS, Almora, Uttarakhand or the project sites.
- The selected candidate shall not claim any regular employment at this Institute, as the position is co-terminus with the project.
- No T.A./D.A. will be paid to the candidates for attending the interview.
