The University of Calcutta was established by an Act of the Legislative Council (Act No II of 1857) of the then British India. A supplementary Act empowering the University to confer some additional degrees was passed in 1860.The Centre as well its M.Sc Program in Biotechnology gradually received worldwide recognition and accolade and with that came an encouraging flow of moral and financial support both from abroad and the Government of West Bengal
A walk-in interview will be held for the post of JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW in the DST-SERB funded project "Role of Epigenetic Modifications in Arsenicinduced Toxicity and Carcinogenicity: with special reference to Histone Modification" (sanction No-SERB/F/3906/2013-14 dated 18.09.2013), under supervision of Dr. Pritha Bhattacharjee, Department of Environmental Science, University of Calcutta.

- Eligibility : (1) Post graduate degree in Basic Science. (2) GATE/NET qualified. The candidates awaiting for their final postgraduate degree are also eligible to apply, but GATE/NET qualification is mandatory .
- Fellowship : 12,000/- pm (with 30% HRA)
- Duration : 2years
