Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics is looking for a PhD student to work with Patrik Ernfors in the Department of Molecular Neurobiology at Karolinska Institutet
Duties :
- Ernfors group of researchers in the field of neuronal development, neuronal stem cells and cancer stem cells, with a focus on mechanisms that control cell-type specification and growth.
- The PhD project is to increase understanding of the mechanisms that cause a group of identified acquired susceptibility to cell death in glioblastoma.
- The project includes Cell Biology, Biochemistry and chemical biology approaches to characterize signaling pathways and mechanisms that lead to makropinocytos, vacuolisering and a non-apoptotic cell death in glioblastoma cells derived from patients. This position is located in a very well equipped, multidisciplinary and scientifically stimulating environment.
Eligibility / Qualifications : Candidates must be able to present information that confirms a very high motivation and intellectual capacity. In addition to formal eligibility criteria, sought knowledge in molecular biology, Cell Biology, cultivation of cells in culture, animal handling, Protein chemistry and chemical biology. The PhD student has full responsibility for the project.
General admission to the doctoral level, an applicant must:
- a degree at advanced level,
- completed course requirements of at least 240 credits, including at least 60 at advanced level, or
- otherwise within or outside the country acquired the equivalent knowledge. Whoever before July 1, 2007 met the requirements for basic eligibility for admission to the graduate program, shall also be considered
- eligible for the PhD level, but not beyond the end of June 2015.
